The Eugene Poetry Slam is the place for great local poets, a lively audience, and renowned guest spoken word artists. The night begins with an Open Mic, followed by a Featured National Poet and then moves into the Slam itself.
'Slam' is the competitive performance of spoken word poetry. It generally fuses elements of theater with a more traditional literary reading, which makes for riveting and moving performances. But, as many poets will tell you, Slam is really about getting people interested and involved in reading, writing, performing, and enjoying poetry!
The Eugene Poetry Slam is open to all and is judged by volunteers from the audience. Guests can sign up for the open mic, to be a judge, or to compete.
Tsunami Books continues to be the perfect home for the Eugene Poetry Slam's special brand of interactive entertainment.
